Prague a city of literature

The main intention of the project Prague a city of literature is to encourage the perception of Prague among residents and visitors as a place that inspires their own work and encourages interest in reading literature and books in general. One of the milestones of the project is to obtain the prestigious title of "UNESCO Creative City of Literature". The project is initiated by the Council of the City of Prague, the coordinator of the project is Municipal Library of Prague.

The project communicates with linking a particular place and literature. The brand works as a marked place linked to the literature in general or with specific author or book. This mark is also for partners of the project as a certification mark (literary cafes, publishers, book fairs, etc.).

Poster campaign launched nine Czech authors in specific places in the city that are connected with their life and work: In the Smíchov fragment of the text from Jáchym Topol from the book Angel, Karel Šiktanc with a book The City by Name Prague with text about the Charles Bridge, located in the neighbourhood, etc.

With the project Prague a city of literature was also published a book that summarizes the literary history of Prague. The author of the book is Pavel Mandys.

The central pillar of the project is website prahamestoliteratury.cz. The visitors can find their own places in interactive map associated with the literature and literary events in Prague.
